Grief SupportIt is comforting for families to feel the love and support of friends and family members as they visit the Funeral Home and pay their respects. But in the days and weeks following the funeral, the bereaved need continued support. As part of our continued support to our families, the Scanlin Funeral Home offers our Aftercare program as a standard part of our service. In the first year, the Aftercare program consists of a series of booklets dealing with each stage of the grieving process. We have implemented this program to show our support to our families providing them with the tools needed to understand how to work through their grief. To help our families through the Christmas season, the Scanlin Funeral Home extends an invitation to the community and the families we serve to our Annual Ecumenical Service of Remembrance which occurs in December. As a part of this dedication and memorial service, each family is presented with a white dove which symbolizes their loved one. A minister offers words of support and a healing message followed by a beautiful candlelight ceremony. Spiritual Christmas songs are celebrated filling you with comfort and peace. This event is a wonderful experience for all who attend year after year. To commemorate a life once lived is to “honor the lives of those you love”.
