On Tuesday February 19, 2019 Joseph Erario, a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and a true gentleman passed away at the age of 91. Joe passed peacefully and was surrounded by his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Agnes of 66 years as well as by his children, Leo and his wife Sandy, Chuck, and Tom. Joe will also be remembered by his sister, Rosemarie Costagliola and by his grandchildren Chris, Danielle and her husband Dave, Anthony and his wife Nicole, Melissa and her husband TJ, Chelsea, and Joe. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren Ella, Olivia, and Lilyana.
Born on October 17th, 1927 in Richmond Hill NY, Joe enlisted in the Navy at the early age of 17 which required parental approval. During his 4 years of active service he was commissioned to the aircraft carrier the USS Princeton where he achieved the rank of Aviation Electrician Mate 3rd Class Petty Officer working on aircraft instruments and helping test planes to ensure airworthiness. Shortly after his service he received his technician’s certification and continued his work on aircraft instrumentation at Kollsman Instruments and Ametek, U.S. Gauge. He would continue to work on airplane instrumentation up until his retirement. Joe was an active member in his local community, a member of the Sons of Italy, and was a longtime parishioner of St. Jude Church in Chalfont, PA.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at St. Jude Church, 321 W Butler Ave, Chalfont, PA 18914 on Saturday, February 23rd. There, a public viewing will be held 11:00 AM-12:00 PM with a mass to follow. A private burial will be held at a later date.
