Lee Ann Alford Lamb

Lee Ann Alford Lamb

Everyone should be so lucky as to have a special person, a driving force, to grow their family to its fullest. Lee Ann was ours and will be greatly missed.

Lee Ann Alford Lamb passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Fox Chase Cancer Center. She was 69 years old.

Born February 25, 1948 in Montgomery, AL, Lee Ann was predeceased by her mother Margaret Ann Alford and her oldest daughter Katie Lamb. She is survived by her father Murry Lee Alford; husband of 48 years, Rick Lamb; son, Rob Lamb (Elle); daughter, Megan Craig (Jonathan); sister, Peggi Joyner (Dick); sister-in-law, Robin Hull (Kevin); and brothers-in-law Jim Lamb and Jeff Lamb (Roni).

Lee Ann cherished spending time with her four granddaughters Elizabeth Katie, Margaret Isabelle, Julia Lee, and Avaline Lee.

Lee Ann had a rare cancer – GIST – which she courageously endured for 16 years. She responded to her cancer by becoming an advocate for others afflicted by the same rare form of the disease, establishing the largest international support group for GIST patients. Lee Ann participated in – and benefited from – three different clinical trials at Fox Chase Cancer Center during her 16 years of expert care led by Dr. Margaret Von Mehren and was proudly asked to be a patient spokesperson for Fox Chase Cancer Center. She was featured in three different ad campaigns, most recently in a campaign to encourage other cancer patients to learn about new treatment options.

Lee Ann was a member of Doylestown Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon and a dedicated Choir Mom. She also developed a long-running afterschool program at the church for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.

Lee Ann was a devoted mother, volunteering at her children’s schools and extracurricular activities. She is remembered by her children as a chauffeur extraordinaire, always shuttling to school, church, baseball practice, dance practice, and many other activities.

Lee Ann loved her flowers. Her gardens are spectacular year-round and are highlighted by azaleas, ferns, hostas, and daylilys.

Although she loves flowers, Lee Ann would like you to consider making a contribution to one of the following: Gist Support International (www.gistsupport.org) ; Fox Chase Cancer Center designated for GIST research (www.foxchase.org/giving) or  Compassionate Friends (www.compassionatefriends.org/).

Friends and family are invited to attend her funeral service 11 AM, Monday, September 18, 2017 at Doylestown Presbyterian Church, 127 East Court St., Doylestown, PA where the visitation will begin at 10 AM.  Interment will follow at Beulah Cemetery.
